Will the plane crash if you DON'T turn OFF your mobile phone?
My belated ramblings about the flight I took a week ago from Penang to Johor. [AK6533]
It sucked.
The mobile phone of an old man sitting somewhere near me started to ring when the plane is taking off in midair!!!
Blardy cuckoo birdy.
The critical phases of flight ---> taking off and landing !!!
So, is putting the lives of hundreds of people at risk for the sake of a phone call the absolute pinnacle of human ignorance?
Stupide!
The risk is real.
Mobile phones have the potential to interfere with the operation of sensitive electronic equipment. That much is known. Modern aircraft are jammed full of sensitive electronic equipment, much of which is 'safety-critical' including navigation, aircraft control and communications equipment.
Although it is widely acknowledged that the risk of cellphone interference endangering an aircraft is very, very low. Aircraft are designed to cope with equipment failures and the flight crew can often take over when systems fail.
But in aviation very, very low is NOT good enough.
Given the huge number of people flying these days, a million-to-one incident would be almost certain to happen in the space of just a few days – and the number of lives lost could be in the hundreds.

Come to think of it, we shouldn't blame it all on the illiteracy of people who doesn't understand the cloudy words coming out from the crew of AirAsia.
For fugs sake, the crew needs to brush up on their English! The international language.
Furthermore, ain't it better if the crew also announce the safety precautions using Mandarin instead of just English and Malay?
Some people especially the older generation thinks English and Malay are gibberish.
Alien language.
Crew: Please turn off your mobile phones.
Ignorant Tom: ???ouposifslwoehwrjelwk??? Err...I think I better turn my phone to silent mode.
Idiots.
And so I landed safely.
To my horror, my duffel bag was spilled with some reddish sauce!
What the fuck was that?!

there is actually 2 place where i really switch off my phone - thats the ICU and the plane ... coz there might be a chance of it screwing up the instruments in both place that will in turn cause something relly bad to happened ...
well the rest of the place i just turn to silint mode only ...
they should impose a RM1000 fine on passengers who fail to comply with the "please switch off your phones during take-off/landing".
Yea...some idiots just don't know how to switch off their phones.
Sigh.
