Hong Kong Food

Lets talk about Hong Kong foot food today.

Its chow time.

O yeah. There is a nice wanton mee shop somewhere along Parkes Street. We walked there for our supper. It’s just HKD 20 ( equivalent to SGD 4 or MYR 10). Well, that’s pretty cheap in a way. My dessert cost more than HKD 20. One thing I like about staying at Nathan Road is the fact that it is 5 star in terms of location. To be precise, Jordan MTR station is just few steps away from the hotel. That’s how convenient. Its called MTR in Hong Kong whereas in Singapore, MRT.

Nice dim sums are available at a lot of places but I don't exactly remember the place and the name of the restaurant. I don't know chinese. Dang. And that reminds me of the difficultly in choosing what order I want as all their menus are written in chinese. Luckily J knows how to read chinese. But his canto sucks huge bit. Mine is not good as well but at least I know how to make an order. Thanks to all the tvb dramas.

There’s a nice dessert shop along Parkes Street too. I had my favorite tang yuen with black sesame filling there. Somehow I just like the soft soft texture of flour ball. We’ll sneak out from the hotel most of the nights to have sweet desserts. To those anorexic skeletons, that’s a way to put on weight.

Somewhere nearby, there is this shop selling kwai leng gou. Based on the newspaper article, it is selling REAL kwai leng gou. Not like those that we find here which is made using powder. And so we went in and I happily ordered a serving and intended to tar pau back another one. J didn’t order as he’s afraid of tortoise. Haa Haa. Guess how much that serving cost? Its HKD 50 per serving! Luckily I forgot to tar pau back.

I didn’t take any photos of the food ‘cos its weird to snap in the middle of a coffee shop.

A Hongkie told me that there is this shop at Cameron Road selling freshly baked mouth-watering egg tarts. Unfortunately I couldn't locate the shop. But I did eat up some bird nest tart at somewhere else though. And watermelon juice with bird nest to wash it down? Hee. I wish I can mix some bird nest on my Post cereal for breakfast and birdy nest rice balls for dinner?

By the way, food at Disneyland sucks. Big time.

O yeah. One thing I like about the McD there is that they do serve McMuffin 24/7. Not just for breakfast. Hmmm...not that I love it very much. But the fact that I never got a chance to eat McD breakfast causes the excitement.

Anyways, those food stuff mentioned above is located in Kowloon district. Somewhere around Jordan and Tsim Sha Tsui. Speaking of the districts of Hong Kong again, Kowloon is a bustling food haven.

Central is like Raffles Place or City Hall in Singapore. Its at Hong Kong Island. There are a lot of tall office buildings. Besides, it’s a very high end shopping place as well. I'm a poor soul. Boo hoo hoo.
If you prefer those cheapo fashion clothes, then I guess Mongkok is the place. I've only been there to have a little peek at the Ladies Street actually.
Speaking of shopping, Harbour City at Canton Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, is a pretty huge place to walk and shop. Times Square is another place to splurge on. There are others that I can't exactly recall. I think the shopping exercise has exhausted my brain.

Lastly, New Territories seems like a ulu shite place to me. Ha Ha. Am not so sure.

Coming up next, Madame Tussauds Wax Museum.
