Why a Hardcover Book is Better?
Why a hardcover book is better?
Because it burns better in case of emergency.
Lizards are scared of death caused by a hardcover book more than a paperback.
And they are printed on acid-free paper.
Okay. pH 7 and you can preserve it longer.
So what?
My Half-Blood Prince turned yellowish even before I start to read it.
Speaking of Harry Potter, I haven't pre-order the Deathly Hallows.
I don't see the need to pre-order.
This kind of book can easily sell a million copies nationwide in the first 24 hours.
People are crazy.
I'm not a hardcore fan of Harry Potter but I do keep a collection of them.
Usually I'm not in a hurry to read a book.
Just wait for a few months after the release, and that's the time for me to pick up a hardcover Harry Potter book for 10 bucks or less.
The price of a hardcover book just suck your nuts.
Once the paperback is out, the price of hardcover will plunge.
If the hardcover had been mass produced, which are likely, you will see the price falls to a great bargain with the books scattered all over Borders.
Simple economics tells you that when supply is greater than demand, the price drops.
That is when I got The Order of the Phoenix for SGD 8.
And The Half Blood Prince for SGD 10.
Both hardcover.
Dirt cheap.
Hardcovers are targeting on people who are impatient to get their hands on the books.
Those who are willing to pay a premium.
So how to reap a profit from these people?
Extend the hardcover's shelf life. Delay the paperbacks.
Hardcore fans and readers would just shrug their shoulders and fish out more monies for the hardbacks.

I don't know. I never read books.
People think you are smarter too because you know how to read a hardcover book.
